Re: Quarantine Kayak Build - Blue Fin 15-29 w/ Mirage Drive

Matt & Cowbro, Can you provide me with some details on your transducer & rudder/control installs? 1. It looks like you built a recessed box for the transducer. How did you build a watertight feed for the cables? How did you attach the transducer holder & transducer cover w/o compromising...

Re: Quarantine Kayak Build - Blue Fin 15-29 w/ Mirage Drive

Thx Matt!

I'm sure I'll have more questions about the integration of the Hobie inflatable well as I progress. I've ordered the well assembly. Time to start tearing apart the decking etc. :-)

What a beautiful build Cowbro!

I'm going to follow in your footsteps with the Hobie inflatable assembly & rudder system to retrofit my old Bluefin. What adhesive did you use to bind the plastic assembly to the wood?

Bluefin single & tandem SOT's fishing...

It's been a long time since I last checked in here. I'm still in love with my Bluefin single and tandem SOT's. The addition of an insulated fish holder/fishfinder station to each has been fantastic! Any fish I keep the eating stay cold throughout the day and are very fresh. Here's a recent video of ...

Re: Great day of Striped Bass fishing on my Bluefin 12' SOT.

I completely agree, Matt's designs are awesome! My 12' is remarkably fast yet stable. An amazing fishing platform. I wouldn't trade it for anything!

I'm trying to get some guys up here to build one of his designs.

Re: Great day of Striped Bass fishing on my Bluefin 12' SOT.

Legal size for keeping Stripped Bass in Massachusetts is over 28 inches (2 per person per day). Thus, we refer to them as either Keepers (28" or bigger) or Schoolies (under 28"). I caught 3 Keepers (32", 29", & 29") and 10 Schoolies (25-27") in about 4 hours of fish...

Great day of Striped Bass fishing on my Bluefin 12' SOT...

Here's some video of a great day of Fall fishing for Striped Bass on my Bluefin 12' SOT. I love this yak! Note the new console/fish storage I've added. It keeps fish up to 40' cold and fresh on ice. It also reduces cokpit volume and is a great place for my fishfinder and bait/lure bag. Here's the li...

Re: Revised Bluefin 12' fishing SOT

Matt, This turned out very well. I took her out fishing last week and found it to be quite comfortable. Having the fishfinder right in front of me was a huge bonus. I've decided to retro-fit my existing 12' solo rather than build from scratch. No sense in not using a perfectly good hull. I'll going ...

Re: Revised Bluefin 12' fishing SOT

Matt, I got swamped at work and couldn't get as much time to work on the fish storage console as I had hoped. Here are some pics with me sitting in the tandem kayak (in my basement with cushions under yak). There is plenty of room for my legs. I'm hoping to finish up this weekend. http://i252.photob...
