Matt,
Can you please tell me the cockpit dimensions for both the 12' & 15' Sabalo?
I would like to compare them to my Wadefish to get an idea of the amount of space available.

Thanks Matt,
I'll be in touch; this will likely become my winter project ... once my new man-cave is finished

Re: A boat for SWMBO??
Still thinking about this ... good things take time  . This boat will be mainly used by SWMBO with one of the mini-me's in tow, so we need to think about more cockpit space to allow the littlies to go for a ride, but 15' is more boat than she wants. I would also like it to be capable of open w...

Re: Sabalo 15 or Wadefish 2?
The Wadefish was designed to have a hatch on the forward wall of the cockpit (the angled forward wall by your feet). Feel kind of silly that I didn't realize that! I chose to put the front hatch in the front deck because I am 6'5" and needed the leg room and decided to mount my fish finder on ...

Re: Sabalo 15 or Wadefish 2?
I have built the Wadefish 15-32 and use it soley for fishing offshore ... and I love it; with a few relatively minor modifications (i.e, storage, rod holders etc) it is perfect for the job. It handles swell & chop with ease. Sorry but I have not seen or paddled the Sabalo in real life so cannot ...

Re: Varnish Suggestions
Thanks Bob.
Cabots exterior clear is what I was looking at but wasn't sure if it would be right for the job.

Varnish Suggestions
I'm in the process of finishing my kayak and am trying to find a suitable varnish.
I'm sure there are not many New Zealander's on here and the brands are likely to be different ... so what spec's should I be looking for?

Re: SOT Designs?
If you mean the cockpit and tankwell as a single piece, then it should be fairly easy to achieve.rodbuilder wrote:I think I have decided on the wadefish 15-32 using cedar strip panels instead if plywood. For those that have built it before, how hard would it be to make it open like the blue fin?

Re: SOT Designs?
How much does your kayak weigh? You got pics or link to build? I haven't been able to weigh it but I think it is about 30-32kg (65-70lb)all up including hatches, rod holders, rudder and other mounted accessories. This was my first ever build so I could have saved some weight in places, but I opted ...
