Re: Wadefish 15-27 for crabbing

The Crabfest was a great event. I had the only woody there, got a ton of compliments. Seems as the center tunnel was the thing most of the fishermen were keen on. My pvc carrier for the traps with the lexan cover did ok. but I've come up with a better plan. I'll be using a chunk of poly foam to just...

Re: BigMal's Wadefish

Mal: My WF does the same thing heading out thru the surf zone. With nothing in the tank well it does kind of plow thru the oncoming water and just floods over the fore deck. The scuppers handle this just fine. Now when I have my crab traps in the tank well she is squatting in the stern and the bow r...

Re: Wadefish 15-27 for crabbing

MATT; yup , light and strong. no secrets, also you must remember I used you BlueFin cockpit design on this Wadefish. I also fabricated up 90 degree bond plates instead of using quarter round. I married up the ply so as to almost eliminate any excess use of filler. Biggest thing is I applied the clot...

Re: BigMal's Wadefish

Mal; I figured out your fwd hatch sealing problem...You need to install a coaming around it and get a custom spray skirt for one of your girls. fabricate a seat cushion and set her in there for the ride!! That way the three of you can provide a photo shoot for mom. fun. back to the problem, when we ...

Re: BigMal's Wadefish

Kayaks and family-- the best!!! I don't know if you have been following my Wade Fish build thread, hard to tell, no one comments. any way, the center console is with out a doubt the best thing i added to my boat. It's such a handy area to get to. Hatch sealing can drive you nuts!! I use clear tape t...

Varnish on the stained decks and IF I can find it , a grey for the cockpit area. I've decided to fabricate up a different trap holder of...

Re: Wadefish 15-27 for crabbing

I found some one way drain plugs online @ Austin Kayak. just got them and tested them in the tubes I fabricated to their proper diameter. These things work great. let water out but not in, it's a little rubber flapper valve, just push them into the drain tubes. I looked at a bunch of factory kayaks f...

Re: Wadefish 15-27 for crabbing

put her in the water today for a few minutes, just to get a few waterline measurements, but also took a 5 minute paddle. Great stability , I was able to twist 90 degrees and dangle both legs in the lake. Paddles fast for the kind of kayak that it is, turns on a dime with a forward rudder stroke and ...
