That boat is likely shorter, but it reminds me a lot of the AuSable River boats. They were also designed for poling, but they use a short pole while sitting and drifting downstream. Matt would know the differences better, but even with the Sasquatch being longer and wider and the South Wind being asymmetrical, the hulls look fairly similar below the waterline. I'm pretty sure that the plans call for at least taping the inside seams and you should follow them.

You might check to see if you made a mistake similar to the one discussed in this thread.
