Re: Drive Well Project

Hobie has suggested to cut off the alignment tabs so that it can fit older Hobie kayaks. You can find this info on either the Hobie website or their Forum. However, I do not know if that will allow the newer Hobie drives to fit in this drive well. I do not have a newer drive to test it with. If I ev...

Re: 12' SOT

Actually as Matt originally stated: "Any hull could be". Any hull with the drive well depth sufficiently above the water line will work.

Thanks

Yes, you can eliminate the front scupper. However, you may want to reconfigure the slope of the floor if the drivewell is not against the bulkhead.

Re: Tassie Wadefish

It is two layers of carbon fiber cloth, 10.9 oz, 5 HS weave, 12 x 12 thread count. It conformed very well to the seat. The yellow is dye I added to the epoxy fill. The blck shows through due to the coarse weave. I didn't have any vacuum bagging equipment. The two layers were applied wet on wet. I ap...

Re: Tassie Wadefish

I still have to work out some thing for the seat & am still open to suggestions. Check out some of the hard plastic boat seats. I found one that fit me well for use with the Hobie Drive. Either mount it in your kayak or make your own using it as a form. http://pic50.picturetrail.com/VOL470/4003...

Re: Drive Well Project

I'm sure glad you guys are working out all the details for me. Now to just work up the courage to hack into my Sabalo. I think I will just remove the entire forward cockpit floor rather than trying to only cut out what I need. I think it will be easier. I know what you mean about working up ...

Re: Drive Well Project

I am also thinking of running a piece of laminex (1mm thick bench top covering) as a shim around the out side of the top of the jig before I make the second drive well for the second Wadefish. Im thinking this would then make the well taper slightly from top to bottom. This would make it easier to ...
