Re: Inexpensive glue instead of epoxy?

You know i always try to find a topic that causes some controversy. Has anyone had any experiences with polyurethane adhesives not as a replacement for epoxy just as a waterproof adhesive?. oh and happy new year to all. I have a small (8') home built jonboat that I used PL premium adhesive on. It i...

I don't think you can get all that in a boat that two guys can carry. A bow casting deck and a poling platform together would add too much weight to make it something you would want to drag through the bush, never mind the weight of the motor. You may want to consider building two boats, one that ha...

The beam on that boat is pretty narrow for a 15' boat. I'm betting it would be very unstable with a raised poling platform or a raised casting deck in the bow. For what its worth, I did this with a small jonboat that I built about 5 yrs ago. The idea was to allow for 2" of floatation foam in the floor, but it had the additional benefit of adding a great deal of torsional rigidity to the boat (it has a lot of flex to it with the floor removed). Keep in...

Iriquios, Issaquah or Sasquatch?

I'm looking for a canoe in the 14'ish range that I can paddle from the center position. All of the above should work for that, I think. This will be my third boat build, but the first using the stitch and glue method. I have used marine epoxy and fiberglass before though. I really like the looks of ...

I didn't realize that the Issaquah was an assymetrical hull. I really like the lines and overall look of your "bigfoot", she looks great. I have built two other small boats and I have some decent woodworking skills, so an assymetric hull wouldn't likely be too much of a challenge. Sorry to...
