Re: Teddy's Free Laker

Oh my, it's been two years? Life got in the way, I have a new attitude and not only start projects, I finish them also now.

Fingers are crossed for an early warm up so I can get this thing done. I only have to finish filleting the deck to the hull and then fairing.

Re: Teddy's Free Laker

Progress = 0  Anyone near the North Eastern US will understand. We have had the worst spring I can remember, the entire month of June was 50 degrees or less at night and rained every dang day. We are having good weather now but I am playing catchup with other projects and have no time. Soon......

Re: Stripper

Well, after a long winter break I am back :) The free laker build will continue (just need to finish sealing the deck on and some finish work) and my mind is already fantasizing about the next build. My hope is that when I let the better half try the laker she will want one and I will just have to b...

OK, that's what I was thinking. What about the little bubbles? Chip brush or a foam brush to knock them out?

How Many Coats???

So I am still epoxying the hull. I'm about to apply the 6th coat (not counting the wet out) because there is still weave showing. This is 6oz glass (I believe it is e-glass). Am I doing something wrong? I apply with roller and squeegee of the excess, maybe I am applying too much pressure with the sq...

Craig, I did see your thread and eagerly await a build log to see how it's done. :D TX, I agree, strip takes longer and is not a performance boost but I love the look of them and I want to experience building one. The whole forms and strongback thing turns me off a bit so whatever Craig did has my i...

So from the results I am seeing, the only reasons to use a roller seem to be: 1. Get the epoxy down quickly. 2. Apply epoxy to a verticle surface. 3. Personal preference. You still need to finish off with another method such as a chip or foam brush or squeege in most cases. works for me, I just want...

Interesting. I was at my Lowes and found nothing that seemed like it would work well with epoxy. Looks like I have to back tonight and take another gander.

I think a Laker hybrid would work out well; leave the hull as is and strip the deck. But, my original question was not to change one of the existing S&Gs but to see if Matt would be venturing down the stripper route. I don't doubt that the S&Gs can perform as well as a stripper, my interest ...
