Re: Drive Well Project

A little late here, but I have a 2014 inflatable Hobiethat takes the older V2 drive. I fit both the V2 GT drive and the new 180 drive into it by cutting off the guide pins.

Re: Strip Built Pirogue

The jig for scarfing was a strip screwed to the board with a runneron the bottom for the table saw miter track groove thinga-ma-bob. You know, the two grooves in every table saw for the miter fence. :D The "fence" for the jig was designed for an 8 to 1 cut. It was all made out of scrap.

Re: Strip Built Pirogue

Sorry, It has been a busy couple of years. I thought I would check back in today and see if those SOT Tandem plans were available yet. :D The strips for the sides were just either 3/4 inch pin or cedar boards ripped with a thin kerf Diablo blade (under $10 at Home Depot). The bottom was ripped 2 X 4...

Re: SS&G questions

Mark, Thanks for posting your template/router technique in detail. Your post was a great help to me as I’m just starting my first SS&G. I had already started my templates in Luann and can see how MDF would better. My question is how do you keep the two pieces of the full size template in place ...

Re: Strip built Okwata

Thanks for the compliments guys. Beautiful boat, and the video is excellent. I may have to rethink how I was planning to do the hatches on my Wadefish! Jay I wish I would have done the hatches this way for my Sabalo, but I thought I would try the plastic hatches since they looked easy. They work alr...

Re: Strip built Okwata

I finally finished up the Okwata for my friend and it is off to its new home. It still needs a good sanding and a couple more coats of varnish since she got scratched a bit while working on the hatches but that can wait until the rainy season. It is too beautiful not to be paddling. Here is a quick ...

Re: Strip built Okwata

I did the part I always hate. I took a saw to a perfectly good deck to make a front hatch. Yep, I can relate to that - but the good thing is that afterward you can relax with a beer and congratulate yourself on a job well done :D . Absolutely right! I try to relax and have a beer after each step :)...
