Re: CAPE FEAR STRIPPER-SANDING AND LEVELING

Hello. This is going to look great.

How do you go about obtaining your wood for strip-planking? I cannot seem to locate reasonable price/quality boards 16' long to rip into planks.

Also, are these planks bead-cove joined or other?

Thanks.

Cheers.

16' Single-Step Skiff; paddle, row, sail

Hello all. Just completed a JEM of a boat but feel I may have missed something because the design seems absent from the current plan index (I hope that Matt has not found reason to abandon this hull). She (XW) was launched in Tuesday's afternoon chill. With a 38" beam, her hips are mellow and t...

Re: BUMBLE BEE LAUNCH

Nice looking boat. The hull paint with bright deck works great and the customizations are integrated beautifully. Congrats. Can someone explain why it is favorable to have the anchor line on a trolley? Is this just to set the anchor at the stern or bow but retrieve from the center? Also, did someone...

Re: CrkdLtr's - Touring Pirouge TV log

The chines look fair and the hull looks straight. Good progress. Also, I have a set of those adjustable horses from biglots and found that by gluing a 3/4" dowel near each end of a 10' 2x4 (2 boards, 4 dowels), the boards slot into the holes for the bench "dogs" and make a great lofti...

Great vision and follow-through. Good bracing decisions, and she looks square and strong.

Congrats.

Re: Touring Pirogue - Pacific Island Motif

Hello all. Just a quick update, I posted launching photos at http://footonthesea.com/Projects/Boat/projects.html (If anyone can link one or two like before that would be great, thanks): launching went well and the boat's performance is remarkable. She is light, fast, and stable. She goes where you t...

Re: Touring Pirogue - Pacific Island Motif

RE Dog Gate: I got the initial idea from a duck-w-mag online article (with photos) posted by someone who modified their boxy swampboat with a waterline level dog-deck. I plan something a bit different but the idea is the same and the benefits should be significant (e.g.: no spash water entry; stable...

Re: Touring Pirogue - Pacific Island Motif

Thanks for the support and interest all, and thanks Matt for linking the photos. The inside is painted with Kirby's topside oil-based marine paint. The boat hasn't been launched yet but I agree the interior will be on the slippery side so that is an issue I need to sort out. Initially, I may wax it ...
