Re: Our DK

We have painted inside and out and have to fit the inwales and the seats and frames are almost done as well. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/firestang1/Ply%20Boats/IMG_0007.jpg http://i63.phot...

Re: Hot glue test
We did tack it from the inside, and got some glue all the way through , but we also used it as the fillet on the inside as well, not to make something in a new and amazing way but to see what would happen "if" . It was more a trial on what could be done with the stuff . More like , "o...

the perfect finnish
Hi all. Im after a pointer as to what you do to get a perfect smooth glossy Finnish with eh resin/glass. Do you keep applying resin over the first coat to slowly take away the rough matt finish until its totally covered and smooth? if so should this be done at any certain time before the first layer...

Re: Hot glue test
Thats what we found as well.
We got the measurements all wrong on one pontoon and decided to see how well it held together as we had glued every join and smoothed it like you would a resin fillet before it dried. It took two of us to rip it apart.

Re: Hot glue test
That is what we did with the one in the foreground, well we actually stitched it properly and had the gaps set right and then tacked it with glue first. It was solid as a rock and we were almost tempted to run glue all around all the seams. It is solid with the proper fillet material over the glue s...

Re: Hot glue test
We learnt a bit more today about the hot glue caper. It looks to be able to stitch ok and does take some adhesion depending on the type of glue but. We had an issue with the mix of the fillet material where it didn't set, what we found was that it ate the glue away whereas when the mix was right and...
