New paddle to complement my Jem Stalker
So having been bitten by the build stuff bug over the winter and now having the pleasure of paddling around in a JEM Stalker I decided to continue on and build a paddle to go with it. Here's the story/blog of the build. I wanted a deep water paddle, so a long thin shape was going to be ideal, but th...

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7081/7074578725_c25cf9cd04_c.jpg I've put about 150 miles into the boat since Feb, she paddles well, handles well and is really quite stable. I prefer to kneel to paddle so don't have seats for tripping, just a kneeling thwarte, but when out photographing from the boat...

Idle Run
What a glorious morning Time for another trip on the river Idle in North Notts. This time from Mattersey upstream to the Idle Valley Nature Reserve and back again. A misty morning, with a low lying ground fog, which started to thin and lift soon after I got onto the water at 8am. Kingfishers, heron ...

Re: New Stalker Build
I have now installed a bulkhead with a large 8" circular hole to take a screw in inspection hatch. My question is what to use to seal the plastic hatch frame to the epoxied bulkhead? Obviously, epoxy isn't going to stick to the plastic so I need recommendations for a glue or sealant please. Tha...

Re: New Stalker Build
The paint used was Epifanes mono urethane 'oxford blue' and 'cream'. Works a treat. I used Tamiya enamel bronze model paint for the pinstripe. I managed to haul her out into the sunlight for some better images, so here she is just about done. Need to paint the inner hull cream too I think. All timbe...

Re: New Stalker Build
A long time since any update, I have been busy though. All the construction has been completed except I've decided to build in some flotation at the front. I will be adding a watertight bulkhead and access hatch under the foredeck. The canoe is now being painted. I've laid down 4 coats of 'Oxford Bl...
