Cuda goes for a walk

Post by tx river rat »

I have been laid up where I couldn't paddle for a few weeks. It was a beautiful day and a friend of mine called me and said they were going fishing on the river (Brazos).
Well that was it doc or no doc had to go play a few minutes. Humm have to admit it was closer to 6 miles down stream and six back up
I loaded the Cuda and headed out to the put in , the river was up a little so I had some fun rapids to run for about a mile, I managed to just hit one rock hard and scrapped the moss of a few more. Dang this boat will fly.
I paddled down just enjoying the trip.

The lights bad at this angle but I love the looks of these red clay high banks

As I was paddling along I hit something ,then my boat went to bucking
water flying, I had ran on top of a big gator gar looked close to 200 lbs
That will wake you up. I paddled on down and found my friends fishing on a sand bar.

Kim and Jason were fishing and Jack the little guy was supervising.
Jason caught a spotted gar and Jack baile right in helped to land it
and even put it back in the water.

I tried to take a pic of the spots on the gars head

Jack is a great young man he impressed me.
They headed on down river to set up camp and I started back up river
no problem, did I mention this boat is fast .
I got back and loaded up I had a blast
Found one quirk of the Cuda It does not turn fast , It is ok but that is the only place the T-V beats it, oh the wind was whistling some chop on the water 0 weather cocking.

Ronnie, I'm glad you saved that gar for yourself. No need to share those things with me.
