Hi i have been thinking for some time now on building 2 laker 13s one for me and one for my daughter.
She is as keen on fishing as i am and she would like to go offshore so i thought why not make the two lakers
so they can be joined together and form a catamaran with a small centre "deck"/work bench,
The yolk at the rear could also be designed to take a small out board motor
any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated

This sounds like it could make a nice stable fishing platform for smooth waters. Similar to the pontoon boat in Matts free plans But with the advantage of two detachable Kayaks. In interesting concept.

Certainly workable. You need to make sure that the attachment points are strong, pontoon boats are subject to very strong forces if waves cause twisting of the two boats. If used on fairly flat water you should have no problems.

a couple of simple mounting brackets on the deck of each boat on you should have it. I'll try to draw a sample sketch later today.

You could install something on the deck to pin a joining beam between the hulls.
Words of caution:
1) You have to do front and back, 2 beams for strength. One is not enough as the hull is designed. You'll rip the deck off with only one beam.
2) This set up is for calm water only.
3) Be sure you mount near the under deck supports.
4) The beam should be 1" thick by 2" tall and made from laminated wood (like 2 layers of 1/2" ply)
