I normally recommend extending the boat no more than 10%. So if you go for 23' you are within the limit. The boat has a parallel aft ship section so extending 2' would be real easy.

Making a wider pilothouse is not a problem. The boat has plenty of stability and therefore it will not compromise anything making the house from side to side. One thing you should keep an eye on is the longitudinal position of the house. The best thing will be if you keep it in the same longitudinal position as it is now. If you want to move it forward the weight distribution and the trim of the boat have to be checked. I will of course be able to help you with that issue.

Thank you Morten for such a fast reply. I will Order those plans Next Month as this months Money is spoken for (I am retired) I have a tourny to fish in a couple of days.....Unless I win it!!!!!!!!! I won big fish last time, an it paid good. LOL. I can live with 23', and I planned on biulding the pilot house out of a foam board type material as a core. The placement of the cabin, we can talk about when I get the plans and look them over......... Thank you once again...... Mac

I have recieved the plans for the GarveyFlex 21, printed them out and looked them over..... Now I am not much on ship building language, so please explain to me what it is that you said above in laymens terms......... LOL Where exactly do I extend this boat 2' and what pieces are involved in the process. I have printed out a set that I am going to build a model first that is about 30" with a 10" wide transome. I will power this boat as an RC boat. I will be building the real thing, I just want to build this one first. to familiarize myself with the process of this boat.

You extend the boat aft. This means that you move the transom and frame G 2' aft and then extend the side, bottom and stringers with the same 2'. I will also suggest you make an extra frame between frame G and frame F. The size and shape should be like frame F. Remember the extra cut out in the extended stringers.

Thank you... Thats plain enough. I found the plans to be easy to read and understand minus the language barrier that I have. Perhaps a dictionary is in my future.
