alterations to 15' dinghy

I would like to alter the plans for the 15' dinghy to make it wider and with more depth

One thing that is important to understand is that when you alter a hull, it might end up with some completely different properties. It is possible to alter within some limits and still have a fair chance of not getting too far from the point of origin.

You can normally alter the depth of the hull without any problems. You will get a higher side but that will not influence the overall performance of the boat, unless you plan to paddle or row the boat.

Altering the beam will however mean some changes in how the hull will behave on the water. The chance is that the changes will be for the better, but the opposite is also possible, meaning that the boat will not at all perform well after the changes.

Therefore it is not possible to answer your question regarding the beam exactly before I know how big changes you have in mind. So please let me know some more details and I will be able to help you with that issue.
