17" Touring Canoe

Post by ArtDirector »

Hi All,
i've been surfing the web for a canoe plan...after many sites finally landed here :)
went through the whole scene and got the free plan printed out to see how everything works since this will be my first ever boat project...
i'm good with tools and stuff but no experience in this area...
i made a scale model using your CAD file and things are looking good...
at least i have the confidence to take on the project...

my only question is...at least for the moment... what are the weakneses of this free kayak...
i love paddling but not an expert at it...i will be using this kayak for touring mainly... 2-3 people and fishing also if that's possible

thanks all for the simpleness of the plans...even amateurs like us feels like we have a shot at our own boat :D

Hello,

Thank you for the nice words regarding the plans. I am glad you like them.

I might not be the right to answer your questions about the weakness of the plans, but Matt has build a daytrip canoe, which is very similar to the touring canoe only shorter, so I hope he will give you an answer on that.

I built the day trip canoe. We had 4 of us (2 adult and 2 kids) in it. I found it to be a bit tippy. When my wife and I take it out, we're ok if we keep sharp.
