Muskoka Weight

Post by lncc63 »

I started building my Muskoka last night. It is so much fun especially with Matt's superb plans.

Unfortunately, I could not find an 4mm plywood so I'm using 6mm instead. I'd like to calculate what the weight will be so could some one tell me what is the typical weight of a 4mm sheet of Okume plywood?

The local Philippine boatbuilding 6mm plywood I bought weighs 8 kg per sheet.

4mm Okoume weighs about 6kg per sheet. But my info also say 6mm Okoume weighs 9kg per sheet.

I've never actually weighed the sheets but my boat weight estimates based on these numbers are generally pretty close.

Thanks Matt. So I figure by using 6mm instead of 4mm, I'll be adding not more than 4kg (= [8kg - 6kg ]*2 sheets ). Better than I'd thought.
