seat postion

Post by jdfdave »

I am in the final stages of building the touring pirogue. I am a little uncertain as to where to position the seat. Not height, but position, just off centerline, a little aft or what. I looked at the pictures Hairy Mick posted and have a general idea, but I am unsure. I weight 190 lbs. I am thinking if nothing else I will just get it out on the water and trim the boat and mark the seat position. I will post some pictures in a few days.

Much will depend on your paddling style. But generally, about 12-18" aft of the widest part of the pirogue should do nicely.

Best is to do as you are.... try a couple different locations and see which you prefer.

G'day JdfDave,

Good Choice mate! :D :D I bloody LOVE my touring pirogue!!! :D .

I am about 200 pounds, and about 14 inches behind the centre seam to the front of your seat works best for me.

For the fine weight trim. I just adjust where I locate my cooler etc.

Any piccies mate? :D
Regards,
Mick

Here is where my seat is for now. It is a little further back than I would prefer.

Oh yeah, the decks make excellent supports for a filleting board. :D :P
