Free Pontoon - Considering as 1st Build - Some final ?'s

Post by Guest »

Good day!

I am seriously considering using the Free Pontoon plans as my first boat build. I just wanted to verify a few final questions before proceeding. And yes, I will be posting a builder's journal from my personal web space as it progresses. :D

1) I'm assuming that the fiberglass tape is just standard tape, not biaxial or anything more important than that?

2) I'm assuming the maximum outboard for this would be, say, a 5hp?

3) If I had to ask for an estimated "Max load/Max occupants" like a USCG capacity tag, what would you estimate it being?

4) Buoyancy Foam - how large of a kit should I use? I was thinking 2 gallons...

I look forward to your replies! Thank you!

1) Correct
2) 3hp or electric trolling.
3) 600 lbs max is what is recommended for it not to act like a lumbering barge.
4) Foam depends on what you want to do. Fill each pontoon completely?
