Matt,
Have you built a Townsend and do you have pictures? Also any input from anyone who has one.

Townsend is a bit of a mystery. I've sold about 12 sets of plans, followed up with all who bought, a few promised pictures but I've never seen any.
No one complained about it so I'm hoping they were just not the type of people who send pictures.
It will be a very nice recreational canoe. I'm working on a 12' and 14' version. I may build an 18' version for my sons scout troop after I finish up my new kayak prototype.
Since I have no pictures of it, anyone who agrees to buy the materials through my online store or through RAKA, I'll send them the plans for free (after materials purchase is confirmed). I'll even do a custom length. Oh yea, swearing you'll send pictures is part of the deal!

I may take you up on that offer. I buy my supplys from RAKA. I could do some construction picures for you. Bad news is I can't start building till winter still fishing on weekends now.

Matt,
I was looking at Harbor Sales. Would 4mm Okembe with a layer of 6oz cloth and epoxie on exterior work for Townsend? Would I have to add any ribs etc. I expect to add 2 seats and a yoke in center. What would 4mm do to total weight of canoe. Dont know if I will make it to winter think I am getting the building bug.

hee hee hee...another boat building junkie.
The bottom panels are pretty wide, so if you used 3/16" (4mm) for the bottom, you'd need to glass both sides with 6 ounce to get the required stiffness.
You'd save about 4-7 pounds.
The bottom panels are nested on their own 4 x 8 sheet, so you could buy 1 sheet of 1/4" and 2 sheets of 3/16" and just tape the seams.
