Hi
I am building the DK touring canoe.
Should I be using 5 ply or will 3 ply be sufficient?
It will be 6mm thick, as I will be painting the outside, not glassing it all over. ( Plans say 4mm if glassing the outside).
Many thanks
Chris

Re: How many plys?
General rule of thumb:
6mm (5 ply) if only fiberglassing seams inside and out.
4mm (3 ply) if using fiberglass cloth over everything inside and out.
Some experienced builders use 3mm (thinner 3 ply) but I only recommended that to experienced builders AND experienced paddlers.
