While out on the river Saturday night, Ron and I got to talking about loading the NorthWind. It seems they both like to have a substantial amount of weight in the stern. After looking at Verlens books again I noticed in all of the pictures of a loaded Seawind the stern is almost at water level. What causes this design to like so much load in the rear. It's not any problem, I am just curious. You can sure tell the difference between loaded level and loaded heavy to the stern.

I've noticed that to. I think it may be a case of the "all environments" approach Verlen Kruger pursued. Loading stern-heavy makes for better tracking. The Sea Wind did have a rudder but in waters you need to make many turns, might as well let the boat track like it's on rails.
