what have builders done to their sanders exhaust to allow a vacuum cleaner to directly suck up the dust particles when sanding? What and where would I go to obtain materials to adapt my hand-held palm sander? thanks much for all your assistance before attempting to build my stitch and glue boat........

My sander came with a small dust bag to collect the dust. I just had to remove it & poke the vacuum pipe onto the spigot the bag fitted to.

I did make up an extra cyclone to fit between the sander & the vacuum to stop most of the dust actually getting into the vacuum.

Here is what I did

Its a 20Kg grease drum, a 4L paint tin some shade cloth & a few wireties & silicon.

Only the very finest dust now makes it into the vacuum.
