Do I need a thwart on my tv 29

My tv 15-29 has a36 inch rear deck and a 50 inch front deck. That leaves about 82 inches unsupported through the seating area. I am thinking that 82 inches is a little too much of a span to leave without a thwart? In fact I am not sure if I might need two.

Gunwales and inwales are 1 inch by 1/4 inch thick each.

I could put one thwart some where in front of me as I am sitting. An additional thwart could go directly behind my seat if needed. Using one thwart would leave open spans of 48 inches and 34 inches. Two thwarts would leave a maximum span of 34 inches.

What do you think? Should I go with zero, one or two thwarts?

one should be plenty. If you deck supports are stout and you have the prescribed thickness gunwales, you could skip the thwart. But it makes a handy spot to grab onto when needed.

Thanks. I am also put handles on the sides and the thwart will straddle the handles stiffening things up a bit.

The opening on my Northwind is that big. No problem and I have seen a couple open top T_V that had no thwarts. with no problem

I have short decks and stiff gunwales, works great, tip it on the side to drain and the water runs through the slots...
