Hi all,
I love Surfman's "Stalker" and am interested in fly fishing the flats solo as well as paddling or motoring with two lightweight people. I built a 14', 25" bottom pirogue for hunting, but it is fatiguing while standing and the freeboard is too low to paddle comfortably with 350 lbs.
I'm curious if the Stalker's hull shape would have better stability than a 14', 32" bottom Jon boat or be about the same, and if it paddles decently well for day trips with two people.
I have also seen the mini skiff, but I think the lack of tumblehome would make it more difficult to paddle and less safe in a small chop.
Thanks for any input or opinions.
Stalker stability for fly-fishing & "all-around" 2 man boat?

Re: Stalker stability for fly-fishing & "all-around" 2 man b
Depends on the hull shape of the jon boat but I'd expect the jon boat to be a little more stable for standing in flat water but the Stalker more paddle friendly. Should do just fine for day trips with two paddlers.
