Another Camouflage Thread

Post by propgun »

About to finally finish up a Sabalo 12. Used cheap plywood so varnish not really a great option. Want to go camo as I could potentially use the boat against the local waterfowl population.

I see a lot of people just make stencils and rattle-can boats. I don't care for the look as the level of finish just isn't there and I'm also concerned about protection over the layer of fairing material. Epoxy coat then rattle can? Bottom of hull will be graphite covered, top half I'd like to paint. JW did excellent work on his swamp girl, but not sure how he did it. Other recommendations I've read involved laminating a sheet of blind material over the boat. Seems like this would be heavy and unnecessary.

Second thought is just to buy a quart of interlux and lay/drape/snap/velcro blind material over the boat. Any ideas?

If you are going to hunt ducks then you , by rights , will have some decoys out. Pull your boat into some weeds , get out and put out the decoys then come back and drape some camouflage netting over the boat and some of the weeds to break up your and the boats outline.
Some light weight cloth from the local Army Navy or even a fabric shop or off the web would work.
