JEM Watercraft

I've been working on my Townsend Canoe project to use at our lake house. You can see progress here: http://westrodney.googlepages.com/Thecanoe!
Its going fairly well. A couple of things I've "discovered":
1. I used metal washers instead of the popsicle sticks to insure spacing between the panels. They worked quite well with the zip ties. I simply threaded the zip tie through the middle of the washer with it between the panels and then tightened the zip tie. The Epoxy has not stuck to the metal washers so its been quite easy to remove them.
2. I didn't really discover this as many of your other posts indicates, but its is true that big batches of epoxy are hard to consume before they start curing and causing problems. I'm using much smaller batches now with better results.
I have yet to decide on my seating configuration... I want something simple but sturdy to withstand the abuse of my sons. Any suggestions?

You could also piece together your own frames and install the nylon webbing. For ultra use and abuse, make a simple bench seat by laminating some plywood together and installing on top of some cleats glued to the sides of the hull. Drill holes in the seat for drainage.
