Worth looking into, although I haven't come across it in my enquiries at marine suppliers.

Getting very close to painting the inside. Is an undercoat needed if I use an acrylic/latex waterbased porch paint? The local paint guy, who knows his stuff paint wise but not boat wise, recommended I use one.

Finished the second graphite coat on the bottom. One more coat in the morning should do it. Getting close now :D .

I have put on the third coat of graphite and I am not sure if I have put enough graphite in it  . I can just see some of the grain of the wood in certain places, only just and you really have to look. Should I do another coat and this time add more graphite?

Thanks Matt.

I got the plans for the Merrimac today as well.
Hopefully it won't take me as long as this one.

Have a slight problem. I painted the inside of the hull with primer yesterday and in a few isolated spots it had some small cracks develop after it had dried. When I touched these spots it was very sticky like epoxy. So I scraped the primer back, sanded, and hit it with a bit of acetone before re-priming. All was good until I painted today and the same happened in the same spots, although to a lesser extent. Again I have scraped the paint back and sanded but have not re-coated it yet.

Any suggestions as to what I should do, or what may have caused it?

Maybe a little amine blush.

Did you get a good surface prep before priming?

Hi Matt - I thought I had prepared it pretty well. Didn't notice any amine blush at the time. I will try again and see what happens after another good sand and scrub.

Finished painting the inside, no more issues after a bit more sanding in places. I have put the first coat of varnish on, with a few more to go. I am really excited to get it to this point and am really looking forward to putting it in the water :D .

Even more exciting though is the thought of starting on the next one  .
