Fiberglass Splice

Post by PAT »

When I cut the fibrglass splices for some of my panels, the edges of the 6 oz fiberglass frayed or left "3 inch strings." Can I sand the edges of the glass before apllying the fiberglass to the whole exterior or will sanding risk damage to the fiberglass?

Thanks-

Patrick

Sand or scrape the strings off is ok. Try not to dig too deep into the main fiberglass patch.

I found it easiest to use a plane and plane these strings off before the epoxy fully cures (or use a paint scraper) . It saved a lot of sanding.
