Sorry Matt, yes I understand what you mean. (I had to draw a diagram to 'get it'). Still a newbie!

You're not wrong Earvin! There have been a couple of times when I wondered why I got myself into this. But I've learned a heap, and probably more than if I built a simpler boat. But that is what I always tend to do.... jump in the deep end and swim like mad! I liked the look of the Sabalo and decided that no matter how difficult, I would give it a go. But I can tell you, without this forum I would be in an absolute mess by now! This forum is the lifeline that makes the difference between success and failure as far as I'm concerned. You would be hard pressed to find a community more keen to assist each other.

Just think what it will be like when you finally get to wet it! Your build has me thinking of building a sot now . Though I have to finish my Pirogue and then the Merrimac first (plans are in the mail ).

A question for anyone. I obviously want to coat the inside surfaces to protect them, but if strength is not an issue, do I still need to use epoxy or can I use varnish? Varnish is obviously easier to use and cheaper.

I'd use at least 3 thin coats of epoxy. You should already ready be using it to wet out the interior fiberglass cloth (or fiberglass tape).

Ok. I know I need to do a couple more coats of epoxy on the hull. Do I need to tape all the little bits on the frames? My mind boggles at how tedious that will be. I was only going to fillet the frame to the hull with generous fillets, and coat it with epoxy. I guess I'm impatient, but if it's necessary I'll do it
