Hairie"s South Wind Build.

Post by hairymick »

Hi guys, been workin on a custom job that Matt has designged for me.

He has called her South Wind and at 17'9" ,is a little longer than his beautiful North Wind. is also a little skinnier and lower with less panels.

I have only just started the build with all panels cut & trimmed today and Started the first of the Butt joints.

No piccies of the build worth posting yet but here are a couple of the concept drawings. i think she is going to be one pretty boat. :D

I think, Mick, that you will like this boat a lot. For my money, a decked, solo canoe is the end all of boats. And, this is a good one. I'm prejudiced, yes. But when you're right - it's OK to be prejudiced. ;-}}

Mick

If you don't mind how about sharing with us the width and height of this one , since we know it is 17 1/2 in length. "O" can you also approximate the weight when finished and the amount of rocker in her.

Hey Mick;
Not to familiar with the decked canoes (yet), what is the seating in the one you are building? Some drawings look like it is meant to be paddled solo, some look like it can be a tandem.
Just wondering.

Stupid cold weather, then 4 days of rain, now cold again has slowed my build down a bit.
