Matt,

I spoke with you on the phone a few weeks ago about the possibility of putting up some designs for a sailing canoe  . Any closer to reality?

Regards

Scott

Actaully I was thinking of naming it the "Joven".

what's in a name?

Naw, Joven just wouldn't fit. I have been calling it the JEM sail canoe.

BTW, I went out yesterday but the winds were too much. Force 3-4 for a new launch would have been dicey, so I just paddled it around the lake.

The deck helped keep weather cocking to a minimum. It handled well. My 3 position seat bracket worked perfectly. No problems and very stable.

One drawback, it's very heavy. I planned on it being for sailing/paddling on lakes so that isn't a big concern. But if you are used to carrying around a sub 50 pound boat this one is gonna be tough.

I can cartop it but getting down to the water requires a canoe cart.0 I got a good one on ebay last summer.

Hi Matt. Our local group has been chewing on sailing canoes lately so I did a search here and found this thread. What became of this project of yours?

Would you recommend this rig for the Muskoka? What are your thoughts on amas?
