Thanks mate, So am I :)

Inverted the deck and fibreglassed the underside with 4oz cloth. Extended the fibreglass up the coamings.

I can see a tiny little light at the end of the tunnel

The deck is epoxied to the hull. Saturation coat applied and sanded back ready for fibreglassing.

I must admit that when I was building the hull I thought the tumblehome panels were a bit of a pain in the neck, but it does seem to make it a bit easier when it comes to doing the deck. Just psyching myself up now for the final fibreglassing.

A few more progress pics.

Masked off the hull in preparation

Laid the glass cloth over the deck. Try as hard as I could, I couldn't manage to do it in one piece. It didnt want to play where I cut it around the coaming. Ended up doing it in two pieces.

Wetted out the cloth and squeegied.

I reckon the hard yards are just about done now. Anyhow it's just about beer o'clock.

Beautiful and neat Rodot. It's obvious you have done this before! :D

Where are you planning on using this one?

Thanks mate. Im fortunate to wake up each morning overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I would love to say that I will be paddling out there, but I'm afraid there are too many scary things in that water for an old geezer like me.

The logic behind the build was that we're planning to do the Grey Nomad thing in the next year or two and the Northwind seems like a boat I can take along that can handle most situations. In the meantime I'll just be content exploreing the many lakes, inlets and rivers along the coast around here. Another reason for the build to be honest was that I thought I needed a bit of a challenge.

Cheers

Things have been a bit quiet around here so I thought I would post a few more pics of the wind. The deck has been given two coats to fill the weave and I reckon one more should just about do it. I am slightly dissappointed that there appears to be a very faint white line along the tumblehome panel caused by the knife when I trimmed the deck fabric. If it is noticeable when I'm finished I might just have to have a narrow stripe along the boat. Green and Gold of cause (Aussie colours).

On Monday I should be able to start on the coaming lips.
