How to plot the PDF pictures

Post by bastigermany »

Hallo all!
I hab a long look onto the topics already posted but found not the needed one,so I will open auf New topic.

I got the free building plans for building the kajak- thanks here for getting them for free!
After auf longer time i also found a Plotter for printing the plans in the correct size- 1.22 to 2.44meters! But now i habe the next prob- how should i get the 4 plans from 1 side of the pdf to 4 pages to print them out?!
Also is it the correct size afterwards?! Can i put the pages on plywood and cut them out?!

Sorry for my bad english- the user name is not only a name but the truth
But it is also the german language packen of the pad

Wish you auf nice evening!

Greetings

The plans are not meant to be for for scale printing.

You plot the drawing reference lines on the plywood, then plot the offsets.

Good Morning and thanks for the fast answer!

Isn't it possible to Print the plans anyway?
I think it will be much easier to Print them and put
Them onto plywood this Way?!
As the Plans are for free, maybe someone can help
me with this printable scaled documents?!

Thanks for your reply!

Have a nice Day!

Think of the boat building thing as a bit of a challenge. If you haven't done anything like this before start at the beginning and plot the parts on to the plywood as Matt suggests. You will gain a far better understanding of the whole process if you contribute to it. You can catch up on the lost time and effort by making sure you purchase pre-sanded resin, glass and pre-smoothed fillet joints.

I could produce full scale files but to what size? There are not many shops that can print paper wide enough for one sheet of 4x8 plywood.

Thanks for all the answers! For sure it is a challenge for me to build a boat like this! I have never done this before,so i am still wondering a Little Bit,how to plot the design onto the plywood!
Additionally to be honest it is also the time I thought I could save with printed plans!?
But the most important thing-i want to be sure that sizes of my plotted plans are correct- but how can i do this?
@matt: yes i just had to Check for such a printer a longer time-and found it in my company just 3 rooms beneath my Office ;)
It can print sizes till 1.22metres width,so perfectly for this project?!
So maybe you can simply " stretch" the plans to original size?!

Thanks for all your help- hoping to start the project within the next weeks!

Greetings

Just some advice from someone that has built a bunch of Matts boats. Do it like he says ,there is nothing to it, and a bunch of knuckle heads like me can do it so can you.
THE PLANS ARE FREE put up as a gesture for folks that want to get started, he has done his part and more .
Now I am sure Mat would draw you a custom set of plans for a PRICE. It is a business.

It's nothing more then some wood and glue. Mark out the lines per the directions and dimensions given , cut out the chunk of wood and when all the pieces are cut out then start gluing ( epoxy ) them in place.

All the individual pieces form together to make a solid object that we call a boat.
