Hi Scott,

next week hopefully.

the holes in the mid deck, the two big ones are gor round hatches. The other 5 are for rod holders. there will be two more adjustable ones mounted on the cockpit side decks.

the five benind me are configured as follows.

Port & starboard are angled out and back at 45 degrees for trolling for pelagics. the three middle vertical ones are for landing net, gaff and donger/light.

the two front holders will be for trolling in estuaries for smaller fish.

i keep missing keys.

The round hatches are also the right size to sit a small bait bucket in for when I am live baiting. I use a small crustecean here we call a yabbie. they are a little like a prawn (shrimp?) Outstanding bait and anything that swims will eat em.

Looks great

I like all the ideas for rigging it out, esp the smaller tank well so you could have a large hatch in the back. I was thinking about adding a center console on mine also (when I get that far, still working on the two year kayak).
The part about the cockpit being long is interesting, since I am 5 inches shorter than you. Starting to think about getting some cheap luan doorskins and just wiring that all up to see what it all looks like and then consider tweaking the real one.

Keep up the work. Hope you dont mind if I borrow some of your ideas down the road

I wouldn't mess too much with the cockpit just yet. Wail till I get her in the water. if you are 5 inches shorter than me, that cockpit is gonna be huge.

I'm thinking I might build in a dorado style fish shoot to the front hatch - next year.

Hope you dont mind if I borrow some of your ideas down the road

Hi guys,

I struck a problem today. My resin has suddenly turned real slow to go off and as I was screeding it off, it has turned a milky colour in patches. mainly in corners. does anybody know what might cause this?

Anyway, I got the top coat of resin on the topside today and have started fitting her out. will finish putting the fitting on tonight, (if the resin ever drys) and turn her over 7 put one more coat on the bottom.

rudder & controls are fitted

cockpit livewell/cooler hatch is on

Hey Mick;
For the epoxy slowing down in the cure, I would suspect a bad mix. If you are using pumps for measuring, 5 to 1, or whatever, one pump could be getting gummy and not dispensing the correct amount, sounds like the hardener pump is suspect, they may need cleaning or replacing. If it was every batch you applied to the boat yesterday I would check the pumps. If it was just one batch, but the rest cured ok, sounds like it may not have been mixed well enough.
Did the epoxy in your mixing cups harden? I always keep those around to check against in case something like that happens. If the cup hardened it may be some type of surface contamination. You did mention that you started using another brand of resin/hardener, have you applied the "new" brand on top of the "old" brand before with no problems? Maybe there is some compatibility issues between the two brands.
Any wierd weather happening when you where applying the epoxy, heavy rain storm that could have added alot of moisture to the air?

I think a shop light or two or three strategically placed will get every thing to harden.

Not sure about the milky stuff, could have be sanding residue collected in the corners, have also heard that moisture can cause the milky look.

Hope this helps somewhat. Let us know what the epoxy looks like after a day or two.

Thanks for the tips DM they could explain a lot. The measures are right but the weather has been real strange here these past few days. We had a hail storm materialize out of nowhere after the last resin coat went on but before it went off.

Such storms are unheard of here during winter/spring. Also the temp has turned suddenly cool and very damp. again unheard of here. typically, our winters are relatively mild with the weather very dry and the days sunny.

I am waiting for the resin to cure real hard now before I attempt to sand out resin runs etc. While waiting, have installed the fittings

At the moment, all that happens is my sandpaper gets cloggedup very quickly.

I'm real pleased with the final result.
