1. On The Floor:

Keep in mind the above are for flat-bottomed boats. If you have any sort of V on the hull bottom, you'll need to make adjustments.
For V-bottom boats:
Carve a seat from a piece of close-celled foam:

Sit On Top kayak seats offer a good alternative. Install some pad eyes, clip on, and you're ready to go:
2. Canoe Style Seats
Here's some seats for mounting right at the sheer line. The one on the right combines a yoke and seat.

You can also hang the bench style seat lower for better center of gravity.
For easy trimming of your canoe, you can install a sliding seat:
Overall, there are many options. Best advice we have is to try a temporary set up to see how you like it before making any permanent additions to your boat.
