14ft Motor Dinghy - Builders?

Now have the boat off the jig and on the trailer. This is a bit of a milestone. It went on without a problem. My trailer is a Dunbier 4.3S made locally in Melbourne. This is a very good and well made trailer. The Motor Dinghy is about the largest boat you would want to put on this size trailer. After a bit of adjusting of rollers, slides and the winch post, it sits perfectly centred and square and seems to be well supported. I climbed in to check it out - not one creak or groan from the timber work - This is one strong and stiff boat!

Nearly Done! Motor's on, all cables fitted, seats and carpet are in, power tilt works OK - Had to relieve a bit of the transom to clear the fittings on the front of the motor. That's the sort of thing you don't see until you actually fit out, unless you have 3D CAD.

I applied some graphics and the rego numbers to the side. I thought this would cause problems with the graphic being 2m long. I used the 'wet' method, it worked ok. No bubbles or other problems.

I'm now waiting on the insurance company to give the OK to go. I'm hoping they won't ask for a survey on my little boat, as that can be expensive. Once this is done, water trials!

Wow! That's a stunner. Not a lot of motor boats get shown on here. I have plans for the 15'dinghy but lack the space at the moment to build it. One of these days... You're gonna have a ball playing in that, well done.

Finally got the stars aligned (weather ( which has been terrible here), not being away in the camper, etc) and got the 'Saucy Gibbon II' on the water!!

Everything went as planned. She was easy to launch, easy to board, handled really well under power, and isn't tender when stopped or drifting. We haven't had a chance to anchor yet. Motor is still running in so speed is limited. Went over some mild chop and stayed dry. There's plenty of room for two or three with gear.

She steers and tracks very well even with the mild V of the hull. I look forward to testing at speed when the motor is run-in. The ride is soft and there is no slap or bang similar to a tinny. The light weight is an advantage.

I am very satisfied with the project and look forward to getting out on the water in amongst them!

That's great to hear the boat performs well and it is dry.

Hope you will share some more photos of the boat on the water and maybe a video too?
