Wouldn't it be nice to build pontoon boat?
But pontoons can be hard to find or expensive. The alternative
is welding your own which is an entirely different set of challenges.
So why not make your own pontoons out of simple stitch and glue
techniques?
Known for their great stability, pontoons boats are perfect for
cruising calm waters, casual recreation, as a swim platform, as
a fishing platform, and more.

We like to keep things simple, so our pontoons are only 12' (3.7
m) long and each have a max beam of 24" (.6 m). But don't be
fooled by their small size. Joined together, you'll be able to hold
up to 1000 lbs (454 k)! This small size is perfect for easy transportation
to and from the water and can hold 3 adults comfortably with minimum
seating installed. This is a flat water boat and not recommended
for any sort of constant waves above 6" inches.

Install some oars locks and a bench and you have a great rowing
platform. Add a small 1/2" (1.3 cm) thick transom to the back,
and you could install an electric trolling motor for hours of effortless
cruising. Install a simple canvas canopy for a duck blind, umbrella
for protection from the sun, install a swim platform/ladder for
easy re-boarding while on the water, some benches for comfortable
sitting or just use lawn chairs, d-rings to lash a cooler to the
deck, the options are only limited to your imagination.
