Re: DK 11' J-Skiff Question

Hi HCT, I have the 11' J-Skiff plans too and I see what you are talking about. I also thought to check the plans for the 18 dinghy and they too have the dotted line running straight (not vertical) across the curved portion of the plywood where it meets at the bow. And since I also have the plans for...

Re: 21' Garvey Flex

Hi Clink, Have you built any boats using this type of construction? Before building my DK18 I built two smaller simple boats and that gave me the experience and confidence to begin the DK18. Morten's instructions are complete and with careful attention you should have no problems building this boat....

Re: Dan's DK18

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj300/davaodan/18footDinghy/DSC00310.jpg The boat is about to leave on an excursion to a FAD (Fish Aggregating Device) which is simply a float in the sea. We experienced strong wind and waves almost nine miles offshore so we fished at the FAD for only a short time...

Re: Dan's DK18

I am very pleased with the boat and motor. It carries four with ease and my Filipina wife was reassured a boat can travel safely without catig (outriggers). http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj300/davaodan/18footDinghy/DSC00287.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj300/davaodan/18footDinghy/DSC0...

Re: Dan's DK18

I gave up waiting for a tow to my beach house so yesterday I rented a truck and brought the boat to the Sta Ana pier here in Davao and put the boat in the water. Put the new 8 horse motor on and went off at half speed on my 40 kilometer ride. I went half speed because the outboard needs to be broken...

Re: Dan's DK18

I just weighed the boat this afternoon, first I lifted the bow and put a bathroom scale under it and it came to 35 kilos, then the stern was lifted and the same scale inserted read 66 kilos. I had to read it with a mirror as it was hard to read under the flat bottom. Together the weights add up to 1...

Re: DK18 - livewell in center thwart and casting deck out front?

Hi jtz, I see no problem with your ideas for a bait well and casting plaform. I believe the front seat can easily be used as a casting platform with the addition of railings. It is one meter long, giving ample foot room. A bait well will add a little weight in the middle and that is the best place f...

Re: Dan's DK18

Here are some of the final pictures of my boat. I will be posting some more when I get the boat moved to Samal. Unfortunately that will be awhile as my friend just went back to the US for a month or so. He will tow my boat when he returns. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj300/davaodan/18footDing...

Re: Dan's DK18

It has been quite a while since I've been able to post my progress. Two weeks ago I had my colon removed so that has slowed things even more. My houseboy assistant has been helping me with the boat so he has picked up some skills that allow us to continue. I think with this arrangement of keel and r...
