I was hoping the cost was lower than marine ply, but apparently not. I was seeing prices approximately 3x what 4mm hydrotek goes for through a local distributor... So I appreciate the input but seems I'll stick with better worn paths!
Thanks!

Dumb question... marine foam cores rather than marine plywoo
Matt (and the rest of the collected wise folk) Has anybody ever tried building one of these boats with something like marine urethane foam as the "core"? for example: https://www.generalplastics.com/products/fr-4500 SWMBO has decided its on my priority list to build a couple boats, so this...

Re: Sasquatch 16.5 In the Upper Mary River.
Strung across the width of the river. The bottom strand being a mere 10 inches above the water. We got out and walked the canoe under it and then warned the two ladies following about it and held it up for them to paddle under. Don't know about you guys on the flip side of the globe, but that's not...

Re: Cheap Plywood
:(  I hope I am wrong about this, but upon looking at the Lowe's website, I found that the item number that used to correspond to this exterior grade 5.2mm plywood has now been taken over by some different "utility" grade B4 plywood. So unless you have a stash of the old stuff,...

Strip Built S&G - Cross panel weakness or glue joint stress?
So the strip-panel boats look great, and they certainly seem easy enough, and the cost would seem to be competitive with the cheapest ply one could find without worries about voids or sanding through veneer layers. I have to wonder whether the wood has the required cross-panel strength? I had though...

Re: Tool for finalizing panels to the line
This thread had bothered me a bit as I only have an orbital sander and did not want to buy too much new equipment, but I found a spokeshave, kept really sharp did fine on the panels for my Sasquatch 14-30. I did all 4 matching panels at once, clamped in a Black and Decker workmate. Much cheaper tha...

Re: NEED HELP PLANNING
I don't want to rain on any parades, but... While that table design certainly looks interesting, I'm left wondering how you're going to get the Kennedy space center concrete contractors to lay the slab in your new building (or got them to lay it in your old building). For that to work as drawn, ther...

Tool for finalizing panels to the line
So belt sanders seem to be a common tool to use for finishing panels to the lines, but I have to admit that the idea of using a hand-held sander and getting it out of square seems counter-productive, especially if one was to stack multiple panels to sand them all at the same time. So I had been cons...
