I have been wanting build one for years. About 12 years ago I assembled a shopbot cnc for a shop I used to work for, a 4x8 foot unit. Pretty nice machine but I never really got to mess with it. A few years later a friend hooked me up with a job running cnc lathes threading drill pipe and tubing. 30 plus feet of pipe hanging out of the back of the machine spinning on rollers while I cut the connection on the ends. It was crazy. After that I went to another shop that had 14 identical machines in one building cutting oilfield parts. In the AC, it was the best job I ever had. Then I moved. Now I drive a school bus! Funny thing is, the school I work at recently got a cnc plasma cutter. The kids are learning how to use it. Now thats cool.

I could see you really benefiting from a cnc router. Just go for it!
