Stumbled upon this while we were in Rockingham County, NC. Thought you all might enjoy a bit of history.
This boat was so big I couldn't get a good picture capturing all 40 feet!

Might be somewhat difficult to car-top, and even harder to portage.

A few years ago I did a little reading on the Batteau,
One thing I thought was interesting was the bow was made where it was replaceable ,it shows in the pics
It could be accomplished with out any disturbance of the rest of the hull.
