JEM Watercraft

I have noticed reading different builders logs that some Wadefish have rudders some don't.
Soon I will be probably building this vessel (or Sabalo)and are trying to think thru potential options before I actualy start.
It seems to me that to retro fit a rudder to a SOT could be quiet difficult and accomodations for rudder should be made during build.
My question is this does Wadefish require a rudder.?
I note that one is not shown on my plans.

Doesn't require one but it make paddling long distances or in strong currents easier.

Instructions show how to build so the hull is ready to accept a rudder.
