How about a log of who builds what when and this way we can all benifit
includeing Mat. How many of these fine craft are about in the world and what they areused for. might be a crap idea but tell us what you think you know i have broard sholders and dont mind some greef.

You mean like a listing of what plans are sold where?

yep just an idea that if someone wants to build one of your fine craft, who beter than yourself or some one whos built it. To be avalable to support them through the build, motivate and encourage new builds. Aswel as keep a track on just how many are out in use day to day.
like i said it may just be a crap idea if so just ignore me!

I was contacted by a chap that wanted to build a gander but after two messages i think he gave up on the idea, made me feel sad as this canoe has given me great pleasure.

I might be able to do a Frapper map or something.

But to be honest, I've got a lot on my plate right now. Sales a slow... like everything else right now. So I'm trying to pump out a few plan sets to get folks thinking about building for when, hopefully, times improve.

What's a frapper map?

I belong to another site that has a map of the US and each person can put a "pin" where they live. That way you can find people nearby doing the same thing.

I'd love it.

Same thing I have on my site , only problem is about 1 out of 10 folks bother to add there name to it.

If Matt does it on his site I would suggest having that person list is they are willing to demonstrate the boat or boats they have made to a person interested in building one like it.

This way a new person with a lot of questions would have a boat of that description to try and see if that is what they want. That takes all the guess work out of it.

As far as helping a person build a boat we have been doing that for a long time .... Both here on Matt's web site ( excellent customer support from Matt and the folks who have built one of his creations ). Plus my web site was created for doing that very thing , we do tend to wander off into BS Land but questions do get answered.

How about just a simple gallery, set up by boat name, and each builder can put a simple description of their build, build times, hints, tips, maybe a only a few photos of a special part, and one or two finished shots. Sort of like there is for the Laker builds. Just expand it to "Builders Gallery", with sub-folders. Might be easier. If they want to give their location, they can.

Would that be easier?

You could be the poster child (and have the biggest show and tell folder!).
Of course, all of those great pictures could send someone (me) into fits of depression, wondering how we could ever hope to achieve either the quantity or, more especially, the quality and great looks of the boats you've built. Ah, but we can drool, I mean dream.
