Somebody in Florida is making these with a motor mount and a "console" for flats fishers. They only have about 2-3" of freeboard. If I come across a pic, I'll post it.

Re: How bout this?
I think I've seen that one. The one they show is like a lime green green or something.jbo_c wrote:Somebody in Florida is making these with a motor mount and a "console" for flats fishers. They only have about 2-3" of freeboard. If I come across a pic, I'll post it.

I was thinking man, that looks like fun but I would sure get tired standing up and fishing for a couple of hours and then I saw a pic where a guy had strapped a full size ice chest to one and was sitting on the ice chest and fishing.
Re: How bout this?
Hello Matt and everyone else. This is my first post here. I spoke to Matt about this one via email about a week ago. I've been wanting to build one of these for a while. Here is some info that I have run across concering stand up paddle boards. My original thought was to build from EPS and model my board after the hawaiian fish board which was produced by clark foam years ago but this Stitch and glue thing has me interested. It seems that there are a TON of companies out now that are all claiming to have originated this whole Stand up fishing thing but I'm sure you guys all know it is sure marketing hype! Check out some of these links.
The board you guys were talking about earlier is probably this one:

These are the only two other companies offering a Stitch and glue SUP
I think Matt is on a better track since he's designing a wider one with fishing in mind. Way to go Matt! Thank you!!!!!

Re: How bout this?
That's the one.
I'd at least purchase the plans if they were available. Would likely build one, but not soon.

I'm in line for this one! I WILL buy the plans too. I would like a couple variations though.
1.) A 12'-0"x32" one with a slight vee and very little rocker. Maybe 1.5-2" rocker up front and 1/2" at the rear.
2.) A 14'-0"x32" similar to the one above
3.) A 12'-0"x38" one with a 32" transome that can have a trolling motor fitted to it. It could also be punted or as we florida boys call it....Poled!
I wouldn't build all three but I would at least drool a whole lot over the offerings! lol

Re: How bout this?
I think it's perfect like it is. If any changes, I would think a tad wider 'cause I might not be able to stnad up with only 32" beam.
I would plan to mount a trolling motor on the back, though.
Sign me up for plans.
Incidentally, what is the height of the boat and the draft at, say, 250 - 300 pounds?

Re: How bout this?
I probably would also put a small cooler on it - maybe that went all the way down to the bottom of the hull to help mediate tippiness.

Re: How bout this?
With all that stuff...you would need a wider transome IMHO. 32 is a very wide board. You would be amazed how stable a 32 wide board is. You CAN NOT compare a 32 wide board to standing on a 32 wide kayak at all. Mainly because most 32 wide kayaks are actually only around 22-25 at their water line max. That wide width only exist for 15% of the total length of the yak in most cases. Boards typically have a wider wetted side-to-side area than yaks. The issue you would have with Matt's board is this;with its narrow transome you don't have much volume at the rear of the craft to make up for the added weight of the trolling motor and possibly your battery if you want it behind you. Plus as you propel yourself forward under power you are going to create even more cavitation which is going to get more of your deck wet. If you want to add a trolling motor, battery and a cooler you would want something more similar to option number 3 that I wrote earlier. Let's see what Matt as to say though. His boat building brain is bigger than mine! loljbo_c wrote:I think it's perfect like it is. If any changes, I would think a tad wider 'cause I might not be able to stnad up with only 32" beam.
