The wife and I were feeling burned out so we packed up the camper and headed out Friday morning to a little jewel of a park just north of Houston. Cagle State Rec. Area is between Huntsville and Conroe on the north end of Lake Conroe. One of the cleanest, quietest, most peaceful parks you can find so close to the big city. Took the fishing gear but didn't use them, just took long walks through the woods, relaxed, and recharged for the weekend. The only thing I didn't like was the duck hunters out on the lake would open up like WWIII at 6AM sharp. Didn't take the kayaks either.
We had a great time and plan on going back for 4 days during Thanksgiving week. Enjoy the pics.
Thanks, Mr. Mick, we love this place cause it's only 1 hr. and 20 min. away from our house. When we go back for Thanks-
giving week we have a campsite already reserved that's right on the water. Now we have to pray for good weather.
The name of that lake rings a bell. Back in 1972 after a year out of high school I went down to Pasadena to live with my aunt and uncle. I think that is the lake my cousin took me to and we went water sking. I was down their in Houston all that summer, had a job at Sakowitz department store doing interior window display.
I ended up marring a gal (who by the way is Apache) from Brownsville...small world...
