Re: Laker in Louisiana!
The U-2 is waiting for 1 last taped seam. I ran out of tape on the last one. She will then get 2 coats of epoxy and varnish..

I think your picture is set to private or something. Clicking the link just lead to a black box being displayed, no picture.

Re: Laker in Louisiana!
So is the tape over the top of the outside fibreglass, or instead of outside fibreglass? I"m confused.
Cheers John.

I am taping the 1/4" channel that seals the deck to the hull. I did not have enough tape to complete this. It is the port side seam, so it is not visible in the photo.

Ok, but were the panels fibreglassed before adding the tape to the hull/deck joint? Or, is that you are just taping the seams?

Just taping the seams. Working on getting the skill level up before I try the cloth on a large area. Just ordered Okwata plans, I will make that leap later this year.

The Okwata will have full glass. I don't like the taped look. But I am learning.

My first paddle in a SIK. She got wet, and I didn't. The first 15 min., I thought that eventually I would roll her, but then my natural balance took over and the tippy feeling went away. Three times in and out of the boat at different places on the bank, and I am becoming confident.
She is very easy to paddle, and really does want to go straight.
