Is this a completely idiotic idea?

Most bead and cove strips are 1/4” thick or about 6mm. Could I glue up a flat panel of them and then cut out the stitch and glue panels from it?

I was thinking especially for decks it would be easier to glue up a flat panel cut it to size and glue it down and it would look like a strip planked deck

It's been by members of this forum. If you're doing that, I suggest making cheap full length patterns and alternate strips for full length of spliced panel. In other words, don't make strip panels and then butt splice them together. Make as one long panel.

That was my thought get 17’ strips and make a long panel from them wide enough to cut the panel from so no joins but not individual strips either

It looks like they fiberglassed the panels before stitching together?
