Epoxi, plywood and plans modification

Post by Rafacacho »

Ok, I am happy with my plans now. But while waiting for them I started looking for the things I was going to need. 4mm ply is not avaioable here, I can get 6mm or 3mm ( crapiest quality). I did find 4mm guatambu(hardwood an really expensive) ply, but....its 160x220. What do you recommend? Do it in 6mm and take the parts to the thickness planer? Will the 160x220 work for the plans?

Epoxy: The epoxy thats use to fiberglass is called lamination epoxy ( you can put layers when its wet or even if its fully cured). Is this same epoxy that I have to use for fillets and glue?

And...I like to do a flat back deck, without the tankwell. So, do I still need to leave the frames inside for estructural strength?

Which set of plans did you buy so I can check if 160 x 220 will work.

I would advise against trying to plane 6mm ply to 4mm ply.

Unfortunately, the length of the panels and nesting pattern won't work with 220cm.

I will keep on looking. I am moving in a month or so, I wont start until then. I still have some time. Worst case scenario is 3 mm ply.
