Close to shore on an unusually calm flat water day with no ice on the water.
I've lived alongside the Great Lakes all my 73 years, and have wanted to paddle a canoe on Lake Michigan ever since as a small child I understood that it's possible.
The ancestors paddled from Mackinaw to my area, and except for fur trade workers who put profits before safety, they probably stayed close to shore and didn't go solo.
On this rare outing I stayed within 100 yards of shore due to the local winds' way of instantly changing force and or direction. Lake Michigan and my canoe will not be meeting on a regular basis.
But I thank God for this little completion of a lifelong desire.
The video doesn't show the canoe or the lake much hopefully my next video will be better in that regard.
Share your photos of outing with your boat!
